We are a Visit England Accredited Hotel with rooms situated throughout 4 floors. The hotel has no lift due to the grade 2 listed building status meaning we can't make alterations to install one. We will of course, help with luggage though.

Our food is traditional and cooked using fresh produce of fish, meats, vegetables & dairy sourced from Scilly & Cornwall where possible. Our style is not nouvelle cuisine or a fancy Michelin Star type restaurant.

Our experienced staff offer excellent & attentive service, far beyond the normal expectations for a 2 star rated hotel

Our swimming pool is 8 metres x 4 metres and so neither small, or Olympic size! An unusual extra facility compared to even many other hotels. Its size is governed by available space, and is covered in and heated.

Our rooms are comfortable & furnished to the same standard. All are en suite with either bath, shower or both, and some are compact, hence the special offer lower tariff for these.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Hugh Town, at the quieter side and is ideally positioned for easy access to the harbour for inter island boats to the inhabited islands of Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes & St Martins.

I try to post regular photographs of the islands, and you can see more of the hotel in the photo galleries on the right hand side of the page.

Porthcressa & St Mary's Harbour

Friday 20th July 2012

The skies are perfectly blue, with hardly a cloud in sight. The sun is shining and it couldn't be a more perfect day... Except if I was out in it!
Walking to work I snapped a couple of pictures. A couple from the new viewing platform at Porthcressa, and a couple of the harbour.... And finally one of just the blue sky! That's what I call blue sky thinking!

Porthmellon

Thursday 19th July

Just a short walk and one photo for the day, of Porthmellon in the sunshine. Perfect day for messing about on the water.

Subject: Thank you

Dear Daniel,

We are writing to thank you and all your staff most sincerely for making our holiday so pleasurable. We found the hotel and food to be superb and the staff so pleasant and helpful. Bell Rock deserves to be in the upper levels of awards and grading. Although the weather could have been better you all made the holiday extra special for us. We will certainly be back.

Wishing you all the best for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Lewis and Pam Coley

Old Town to Porthmellon

Tuesday 17th July 2012

A stroll down King Edwards Road to Peninnis before heading back down to Old Town via Carn Lea. I took a little detour from the coast path onto Carn Lea to take a couple of different pictures. Wearing shorts though I managed to get stung. If you're careful you can get through but it's quite overgrown.
From Old Town I headed up and through Carreg Dhu gardens, before heading down Rocky Hill and cutting through to Shark's Pit and back to Porthmellon.

Stride For Life, Cancer Research, Sunday 22nd July

I am taking part in the Cancer Research UK, Stride for Life event this Sunday 22nd July. I have a sponsor form on reception at the hotel if you are able to sponsor me? (or cheques in the post payable to Cancer Research UK)... Many thanks if you are able to help! Daniel :)

Sunday Living Up To It's Name

Sunday 15th July - St Swithin's Day

Sunshine. Blue skies.

I didn't bother doing a lot or going far and just went to the beach for a couple of hours.

Saturday Afternoon Wanderings

Saturday 14th July 2012

Most of today's pictures are of Old Town & Peninnis area. I did walk round from Porthmellon, Pump Road, Parting Carn direction first.

The first picture was taken on Pump Road of a Horse in a field:

Old Town Bay had quite a few sunbathers this afternoon. It was nice and sheltered from the stiff breeze today:

Along the path to the Old Town Church there is a seat which is made out of the bow section of the an old tripper boat. If I remember rightly, it is from the Buccaneer:

Further along the path up to Peninnis, the trees create a tunnel like effect. The coastal erosion is getting quite bad on this section, so if you don't fancy running the gauntlet, you can take the track through the adjacent field:

This picture is taken from King Edward's Road looking towards St Agnes:

The last picture is taken from Buzza looking across the harbour towards Samson & Bryher:

Charity Teddies - Children's Hospice

Saturday 14th July 2012

Our box of mini teddies being sold in aid of Precious Lives Appeal for the Children's Hospice Southwest has today been replenished with teddies. George Teideman, the local head of fundraising for the islands has counted up our tin and we've raised £23.32 for the charity.

Thanks must go to our guests who have bought and donated.
