We are a Visit England Accredited Hotel with rooms situated throughout 4 floors. The hotel has no lift due to the grade 2 listed building status meaning we can't make alterations to install one. We will of course, help with luggage though.

Our food is traditional and cooked using fresh produce of fish, meats, vegetables & dairy sourced from Scilly & Cornwall where possible. Our style is not nouvelle cuisine or a fancy Michelin Star type restaurant.

Our experienced staff offer excellent & attentive service, far beyond the normal expectations for a 2 star rated hotel

Our swimming pool is 8 metres x 4 metres and so neither small, or Olympic size! An unusual extra facility compared to even many other hotels. Its size is governed by available space, and is covered in and heated.

Our rooms are comfortable & furnished to the same standard. All are en suite with either bath, shower or both, and some are compact, hence the special offer lower tariff for these.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Hugh Town, at the quieter side and is ideally positioned for easy access to the harbour for inter island boats to the inhabited islands of Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes & St Martins.

I try to post regular photographs of the islands, and you can see more of the hotel in the photo galleries on the right hand side of the page.

Garrison

This is from a few days ago taken around the Garrison. In the last couple of years during undergrowth clearance an old ww2 gun emplacement was uncovered half way up the hill from Woolpack Point to the campsite

I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks so there'll be no picture updates for a while.
The hotel is still contactable though on 01720 422575 as Shirley will be there to take bookings.

The hotel closed on Saturday 26th October until early March 2014.

We will be undertaking some winter renovations as per usual. Updates to follow!

Have a safe winter everyone!

St Mary's Harbour

Thursday 17th October 2013

Another glorious day here on Scilly. Luckily for me I had to take a walk down to the quay this morning so took the opportunity to snap a couple of photos of the harbour.

Bright & Breezy

Wednesday 16th October 2013

After a wet and windy night we've got a beautifully bright and blustery day. The sun is out, and it feels warm despite the fresh breeze. Clear blue skies. Lovely!

Sunday Walks

Sunday 13th October 2013

Sunday was a bit overcast but still warm as the wind had dropped right off.
The dredger is working in the harbour in the first shot.
The first of the boatmens association, the Golden Spray is up on Porthloo.
The ducks in the pond are less popular with all the rare birds being spotted on their migration.
Old Town Café is still offering lovely cream teas and you get the distinct impression that you're being watched by hungry sparrows!
Porthcressa is peaceful and the sound of Oyster Catchers echoes around the bay.

Friday 11th October

Walk to work this morning. Autumn is here. It's cooled a little and the mornings and evenings are darker.
On the up side, there's rare birds for the bird watchers to see! We've quite a few staying at the hotel, but there's room for more!

My Daughter's Pictures

Saturday 5th October 2013

Here's a couple of this evening's sunset taken by my daughter. She's used an iPod so the resolution isn't too high, but they're still lovely pictures! I didn't get to see the sunset myself as working

Porthcressa in the Autumn Sunshine

Saturday 5th October 2013

What a stunning autumn day! This afternoon about 4pm we took a stroll along Porthcressa to have a coffee outside Dibble & Grub. Basking in the late afternoon sunshine the warmth of the sun is still there. Lovely!
My daughter decided it's not too late in the season to swim in the sea!! Braver than I am!! She was not the only swimmer this afternoon though.

Old Town and a Moody Picture Towards The Harbour

Friday 4th October 2013

Slapped wrists on my part for being poor at posting some photos.
I took these pictures of Old Town and then headed up towards Telegraph and down past the Golf Club turning, where I took a moody picture into the bright sun, towards the harbour.
Down the hill back into town I snapped one at Sharks Pit and Porthmellon.
What a lovely afternoon!
