We are a Visit England Accredited Hotel with rooms situated throughout 4 floors. The hotel has no lift due to the grade 2 listed building status meaning we can't make alterations to install one. We will of course, help with luggage though.

Our food is traditional and cooked using fresh produce of fish, meats, vegetables & dairy sourced from Scilly & Cornwall where possible. Our style is not nouvelle cuisine or a fancy Michelin Star type restaurant.

Our experienced staff offer excellent & attentive service, far beyond the normal expectations for a 2 star rated hotel

Our swimming pool is 8 metres x 4 metres and so neither small, or Olympic size! An unusual extra facility compared to even many other hotels. Its size is governed by available space, and is covered in and heated.

Our rooms are comfortable & furnished to the same standard. All are en suite with either bath, shower or both, and some are compact, hence the special offer lower tariff for these.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Hugh Town, at the quieter side and is ideally positioned for easy access to the harbour for inter island boats to the inhabited islands of Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes & St Martins.

I try to post regular photographs of the islands, and you can see more of the hotel in the photo galleries on the right hand side of the page.

Not had much time this afternoon, but didn't want to miss the clear blue skies, so I squeezed in a walk around the Garrison. Always a great walk around there, whatever the weather. It just happens to be glorious this afternoon!

Sunny Spring Sunday Afternoon

Sunday 14th April 2013

After a pretty wild weathered Saturday afternoon and night we have been blessed with a lovely Sunday. The wind is still a little fresh, but the sun is warm and the skies are beautiful and blue. You can really feel the warmth of the sun out of the wind. Spring is upon us and may it soon turn to summer! I think there could be a few red faced people tonight after being caught out by the sun and breeze. With the clear blue skies the UV index will be high.

Walking Around St Mary's

Thursday 12th April 2013

What a stunning afternoon! Clear blue skies and sunshine. I spent the afternoon between shifts walking around St Mary's and taking in the beautiful views we have, both coastal and inland. The flowers on the gorse are bright yellow, as are remaining unpicked flowers in the fields.

New Lands End Terminal Open!

Tuesday 9th April 2013

I had an invite from Skybus to go over and view the new terminal building at Lands End. The new building is very impressive with a larger area to seat, eat & refresh. Lovely large windows to view the airfield. I'm sure our guests travelling through the terminal will be pleased to see the upgraded facilities. When the sun shines there's outside seating also.
I was especially pleased to go up into the control tower. It's a bit of a climb but the view was worth it!

“Back again!”

Reviewed 3 April 2013

Having a few spare days to occupy decided to revisit Scilly for the umpteenth time. The welcome we received at the Bell Rock Hotel put us in mind of arriving a friend or family house - warm and genuine. With the rest of the country in arctic mode, this hotel once again made us feel in holiday mood - excellent food, brilliant new decorations in the public area and most of all a really comfortable bed! Thanks again for making our stay perfect.

“Warm and Welcoming”

Reviewed 1 April 2013 1 person found this review helpful

This was our first visit to the Isles of Scilly and even though the weather was very cold the Bell Rock Hotel was warm and welcoming. It certainly lived up to the other excellant reviews. We stayed 4 nights and the food and service at breakfast and dinner was first class. All the staff made an effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Daniel the Hotel Manager made sure we were aware of changes to the ferry schedules prior to leaving home and after checking out. Previous reviews have mentioned the small rooms, but I certainly found them adequate for our needs and well stocked with as much tea/coffee & milk as you would need (even for my wife).
The after dinner coffee & mints were served in the bar area, which I found was a good opportunity to meet the other guests and exchange holiday experiences and ideas. This added to the friendly atmosphere of the hotel
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Bell Rock and hopefully will have an opportunity to return in the near future.

“Thanks for accommodating us before the start of the season”

Reviewed 16 March 2013 1 person found this review helpful

This hotel richly deserves its excellent rating. We stayed for a week and wished we could have stayed longer. It is ideally placed to walk around Hughtown. The standard of cleanliness was first rate. The food, both the breakfast and evening meals were exceptional, the food was cooked to order with a different choice of meat, fish and vegitarian mains each day. We enjoyed our stay so much that before we left we booked a second visit for later in the year.
