We are a Visit England Accredited Hotel with rooms situated throughout 4 floors. The hotel has no lift due to the grade 2 listed building status meaning we can't make alterations to install one. We will of course, help with luggage though.

Our food is traditional and cooked using fresh produce of fish, meats, vegetables & dairy sourced from Scilly & Cornwall where possible. Our style is not nouvelle cuisine or a fancy Michelin Star type restaurant.

Our experienced staff offer excellent & attentive service, far beyond the normal expectations for a 2 star rated hotel

Our swimming pool is 8 metres x 4 metres and so neither small, or Olympic size! An unusual extra facility compared to even many other hotels. Its size is governed by available space, and is covered in and heated.

Our rooms are comfortable & furnished to the same standard. All are en suite with either bath, shower or both, and some are compact, hence the special offer lower tariff for these.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Hugh Town, at the quieter side and is ideally positioned for easy access to the harbour for inter island boats to the inhabited islands of Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes & St Martins.

I try to post regular photographs of the islands, and you can see more of the hotel in the photo galleries on the right hand side of the page.

Hi Daniel

Where do we start .....? We had one of the most relaxing, peaceful,
enjoyable holidays we have ever had - and that is no exaggeration!
Everything about our stay at the Bell Rock was stress free, a huge bonus
as respite from our busy stressful day to day lives. The room was kept
immaculate during our stay, not down to us I might add! The food was fab
with more than enough choice, probably the hardest thing about the holiday
was chosing what to eat each evening! The staff are warm, friendly and
funny, we immediately felt at ease, by the end of the week we almost felt
like family. We met some lovely guests too and the lounge is an excellent
place to catch up over coffee and discuss the day.

Our first stay in Scilly and the Bell Rock will certainly not be our last.
Thanks to you and your excellent team we had a holiday which left us
relaxed and our batteries recharged - that is until we went back to work
on Monday - never mind, roll on next time!

Best Regards
Andy and Chris Mortimer

Subject: Our first stay at Bell Rock!

Dear Daniel

It took us 52 years to the discover the Bell Rock, after first visiting Scilly in the late 1950’s. We have been on a journey of many of the levels of accommodation in the Islands, over those years, and we both feel that we have come to journeys end. We have discovered, what is for us, the perfect place to stay in St Mary’s.

The hotel was first class, the food was excellent and the staff were courteous, professional but within that they never failed to be friendly, even though when a crucial member of the team was “fog bound” in Penzance.

Gerry says it has been a long time since she has had a real holiday, No shopping, no cooking and no washing up.

Thank you all for making that possible.

It may have been our first visit but with God’s willing, we will be back!

Ray & Gerry Tims.

Hi Daniel

Just a note to say thank you for a lovely holiday. This was our 7th year at the Bell Rock and no wonder we keep coming back for more. You and your staff are always so welcoming and cheerful and nothing is to much trouble for any of you. We also receive a lovely warm welcome from Chris & June. The rooms are of excellent standard with nice comfortable beds and they are immaculate. The food is lovely (especially the puddings) this manifests itself when I get on the scales upon my return home. I would recommend the Bell Rock to anyone who is looking for a holiday in the Isles of Scilly. So thank you once again and we are looking forward to seeing you all in 2012.

Jane & Roger Gilks.

Dear Mr. Lawson,

We had a wonderful time in the Bell Rock Hotel. Good food, nice people,
and a friendly and competent staff. Perfectly wonderful. And yes, we will come back again ... in a few years. There are so many beautiful places in the world, and one life is too short to visit them all (what a pity).
In the meantime we will advise the Isles and the Bell Rock Hotel to
everyone, who asks about our holliday.

Kind regards from Germany

Coffee Morning In Aid Of Cancer Research UK - Thursday 9th June 2012

Today's Cancer Research coffee morning has managed to raise a whopping £457.30!!! Well done everybody!! :)
It was a great turn out for it with both locals and visitors alike turning up.... I think the light showers we had this morning was a blessing which brought people in.
There were loads of cakes which all looked lovely (I may have had a little quality control check on a couple!)

“Gig Racing on the Scillies”

Reviewed 6 June 2011

My Husband and I came to the Scillies to take part in the Annual Gig Racing Championships. We had a fabulous time, although often cold and wet after racing we always found the Bell Rock warm friendly and inviting. Lovely rooms with very comfortable beds excellent service from all the staff and delicious food. What more could you want?!! Will definitely be back next year.

Stayed May 2011, travelled with friends

Dear Daniel

My wife and I had an excellent stay in Scilly, we enjoyed ourselves very much

The highlights of our stay were being in the Bell Rock Hotel, where we were looked after so very well, good food, pleasant company [both staff and other visitors] and we made new friends.

We plan to return in September 2012 and we look forward to that time.

all the best to and your people.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II Comes To The Bell Rock Hotel On Her Scilly Visit!

...Well, she drove passed in any case!! But I now have your attention!

I was really lucky and managed to take a quick photograph of the Queen as they drove passed the Hotel en route to Holgates Green. I couldn't believe my luck when HRH looked straight at me and smiled :) It was a one chance shot only, and I managed to get it.

The Queen & Prince Phillip came over to visit the new school build where they met some of the children. My daughter Keely was there with the Brownies, so she was really pleased. June Jones (hotel proprietor) was also there with daughter Jenny, and grand children, Harrison, Leo & Zara. June was interviewed by Radio Cornwall, but I've not heard the clip on the radio yet.
After the school visit, the Royal party drove to town, and passed the Bell Rock Hotel before attending Holgates Green where they met members of the emergency services, gig crews, etc. Peter Martin, the local boatbuilder met the Queen. He has built many gigs:

The Queen was accompanied around the green by Mike Hicks, the Council's Chairman, where he was able to introduce the people she was meeting.

Finally, after the visit to Holgates Green the Queen & Prince Phillip had a spot of lunch before departing the islands around 2.30pm
