We are a Visit England Accredited Hotel with rooms situated throughout 4 floors. The hotel has no lift due to the grade 2 listed building status meaning we can't make alterations to install one. We will of course, help with luggage though.

Our food is traditional and cooked using fresh produce of fish, meats, vegetables & dairy sourced from Scilly & Cornwall where possible. Our style is not nouvelle cuisine or a fancy Michelin Star type restaurant.

Our experienced staff offer excellent & attentive service, far beyond the normal expectations for a 2 star rated hotel

Our swimming pool is 8 metres x 4 metres and so neither small, or Olympic size! An unusual extra facility compared to even many other hotels. Its size is governed by available space, and is covered in and heated.

Our rooms are comfortable & furnished to the same standard. All are en suite with either bath, shower or both, and some are compact, hence the special offer lower tariff for these.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Hugh Town, at the quieter side and is ideally positioned for easy access to the harbour for inter island boats to the inhabited islands of Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes & St Martins.

I try to post regular photographs of the islands, and you can see more of the hotel in the photo galleries on the right hand side of the page.

“A Warm Welcome”

My wife and I spent a week in Scilly in September 2008 and stayed at the Bell Rock Hotel on St Mary's. Due to delays in our helicopter flight from Penzance we arrived very late and were given a wonderfully warm welcome and, in spite of the restaurant being closed, a meal had been kept for us. This welcoming and friendly attitude by all the staff continued throughout our stay. We found the accommodation to be comfortable and the food of a high quality from a table d'hote menu that changed daily. In particular we found the wine list to be excellent value for money. The staff were always helpful and provided all the information we needed to get around the islands. We have no hesitation in recommending the Bell Rock as a good base for exploring Scilly.

“Friendliest hotel I have stayed at.”

I stayed here 27th Aug. to 1st Sept. From the arrival to departure the friendly welcoming approachwas evident in every single member of staff I met and spoke to. Every area in the hotel was spotlessly clean. Although I did not request clean linen and towels daily, I am sure they were changed at the discretion of the housekeeper.Breakfast was full English with a good choice of items. Dinner was excellent every night with soup as well as the stated starters. If you include coffee, this was 5 courses. Food always hot and well cooked. The dining room staff were cheerful, friendly and always polite. Nothing seemed too much trouble.Very convenient for beach, shops, harbour, community and tour bus.Very good value Fudge shop for sandwiches, pasties, pizzas, hot drinks and delicious flavours of ice cream! This is across the road in front of the hotel and around the corner to town beach, where you can sit, eat and watch the boats. The hotel is a listed building and has no lift but does have rooms with only a few stairs to manage. One night the array of desserts was such that I had difficulty choosing

Just stayed 4 nights in this hotel and have already booked again for next year. We stayed in the family suite and it was spacious and comfortable - almost like having our own apartment. The service was perfect: friendly but not intrusive, and very obliging manager who had a chamber-maid search every DVD player to find a missing DVD for me and my niece! So well organised and the food was excellent.

The main thing you notice here is how well organised they are.. from booking the room over the phone and recieving a letter almost the next day, to arriving to check in to find they have the details on the desk awaiting you, to the fast efficient service in the restaurant. This certainly sems a very well run hotel. The food was excellent, breakfast and dinner was included, the room was clean, and the hotel is very centrally located. Would have no hesitiation in staying there again.

Stayed here for a short break 8-11 Mar 08. Hotel is great. Staff are very friendly, rooms are comfortable and clean. We stayed B&B + evening meal and the food was of great quality and substantial. The hotel is only 2 minutes walk from St Mary's beach/harbour and a nice stroll to Old Town. It was lovely to see the Islands out of season. So peaceful and laid back. A real rest. We got the Skybus from Newquay and a minibus drops you at the hotel. The Atlantic and Mermaid pubs near the quay also provide good meals for lunch etc. There is bike hire 2 minutes walk from the hotel to tour the Island. Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room after a day out. Hotel has a bar/lounge with books etc. Tours of the island by minibus can be booked. Scenery is great and you are always just a hop from the sea. Local fish is excellent. Will definitely go back again.

The Bell Rock Hotel is in an ideal position being handy for the town and quay, and for close proximity to beaches and coastal paths. The hotel has a comfortable and relaxing lounge with a small bar. The hotel's strong point is the staff, who are friendly and efficient. The food is excellent and promptly served. In 14 days our food was always hot and well presented. The wine selection was good and reasonably priced for a hotel.Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and will be returning next year.

“Good Value & Friendly Staff at Bell Rock”

We enjoyed very good food and friendly service at Bell Rock Hotel in August 2007. Our room had been refurbished (as part of the hotel renovations that took place at the close of the 2006 season) and we enjoyed a comfortable stay on the top floor. Although there is no lift, we had an ensuite (bath/shower) with an enticing view over the harbour to Tresco as a bonus. The indoor pool was great - ideal for swimming as the sea is very cool! The bar lounge includes a small library and we had a DVD player in our room. The hotel is in an ideal location, on the level, in between Town and Porthcressa beaches. Overall, we felt it was excellent value - providing a 3 star standard for a 2 star hotel - we have re-booked for 2008!
