The gigs are all lined up along the Strand ready for this weekend's World Championship event.
The platform & crane at the end of the quay are working to extend and widen the quay. You can just see them astern of the Scillonian III

Partial Eclipse Friday 20th March 2015 on Isles of Scilly
The partial eclipse was clearly visible here on the Isles of Scilly yesterday (Friday 20th March 2015).
These 2 pictures were taken by Jenny Hicks (Hotel Proprietors' Daughter) on her mobile phone. They've come out pretty well. It was full sun and no cloud when I tried, so mine didn't come out as too bright.

Propeller Blade
The propeller blade from the wreck of the container ship the Cita which was salvaged from 80 feet deep has been outside the Bell Rock Hotel for years but today we've repositioned it to a more prominent spot at the top of the steps. We had to get Richard Hand Haulage to lift it with a crane as the solid phosphor bronze weighs about half a ton.
The propeller blade was in the ship's locker as a spare and never touched water until the ship sank off the east coast of St Mary's in 1997.
The blade was lifted by diver Mac Mace from Bryher with help from Tim Allsop from St Martins. As we manoeuvred the blade today Tim just happened to be passing and he told us of the trouble they had salvaging the blade as it got stuck on the way up and it took several days to get it out!

With the introduction of Superfast Broadband to the Isles of Scilly, the Bell Rock Hotel has now had WiFi Internet facilities fitted throughout the entire hotel's bedrooms as well as the bar area now. This will be very much welcomed by many guests, I am sure. This facility is also free of charge for our guests. You will now be able to connect to the internet using you Smart Phones, iPads/Tablets & Laptops.

Dryathalon Final Total Raised
The final donations have now all been collected and I am extremely pleased to announce that with everyone's generosity, my Dryathalon efforts for a dry January have managed to raise in aid of Cancer Research UK, a massive £500.00 in total!! Thank you to everyone who has donated & helped achieve this amount!!

The weather was another cracker on Sunday this week and the harbour was still, and the sun shining on the water. Very peaceful.
