We are a Visit England Accredited Hotel with rooms situated throughout 4 floors. The hotel has no lift due to the grade 2 listed building status meaning we can't make alterations to install one. We will of course, help with luggage though.

Our food is traditional and cooked using fresh produce of fish, meats, vegetables & dairy sourced from Scilly & Cornwall where possible. Our style is not nouvelle cuisine or a fancy Michelin Star type restaurant.

Our experienced staff offer excellent & attentive service, far beyond the normal expectations for a 2 star rated hotel

Our swimming pool is 8 metres x 4 metres and so neither small, or Olympic size! An unusual extra facility compared to even many other hotels. Its size is governed by available space, and is covered in and heated.

Our rooms are comfortable & furnished to the same standard. All are en suite with either bath, shower or both, and some are compact, hence the special offer lower tariff for these.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Hugh Town, at the quieter side and is ideally positioned for easy access to the harbour for inter island boats to the inhabited islands of Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes & St Martins.

I try to post regular photographs of the islands, and you can see more of the hotel in the photo galleries on the right hand side of the page.

Jenny & June will be keeping an eye on the emails, but for urgent attention please do call Shirley.

Rough Seas on Scilly

Friday 27th December 2013

A brisk walk this lunchtime around the Garrison in the blustery winds. Blowing the cobwebs away after a couple of days of over indulgence Christmas festivities.
The seas have picked up some heavy swells with the strong winds of late.

Harbour

Monday 25th November 2013

The sun is very pleasant today and at lunch time the harbour is bright and calm

Early Morning Sun Rays

Monday 25th November 2013

The sun was beaming through the clouds this morning over Peninnis as I walked to work.

Wine Tasting

Last week saw an unplanned last minute dash to Falmouth for the annual wine fayre tasting session. It was a very constructive evening and some new ideas for next season's wine list are in place.

Whilst away on the mainland I called in to see a couple of our suppliers which was great. It's very interesting to see how they operate.

The views from the flight back from Newquay were stunning!

Town Beach & Harbour

Sunday 17th November 2013

It's been a few weeks since I posted a photo. I've been away on my holidays which was lovely to do after the season finished. I was away for a couple of weeks visiting family and travelling around. I managed to put my feet up for a couple of those days, but we were generally packing stuff in to see & do, playing at being tourists ourselves.

Here's a photo of an overcast Sunday afternoon looking out from the slip at the back of the Co-op

Garrison

This is from a few days ago taken around the Garrison. In the last couple of years during undergrowth clearance an old ww2 gun emplacement was uncovered half way up the hill from Woolpack Point to the campsite

I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks so there'll be no picture updates for a while.
The hotel is still contactable though on 01720 422575 as Shirley will be there to take bookings.

The hotel closed on Saturday 26th October until early March 2014.

We will be undertaking some winter renovations as per usual. Updates to follow!

Have a safe winter everyone!
